Moment-stop improvement example

Moment-stop improvement example

Defective product discharging process

Cost reducing effect

Achieved a reduction in labor cost of 260,000 yen/year.

Device description

This is the packaging process for toilet paper.
An air cylinder is used for the mechanism that sends out defective products to the discharge line.

Device description

Problems that have occurred so far

The air cylinder was used to move the defective product discharge plate.
Adjusting the air cylinder pressure was difficult and the discharge rate was inconsistent. As a result, when the speed slowed down, defective products would get caught in the entrance of the discharge conveyor, causing a moment-stop.
Each moment-stop lasted about 3 minutes and occurred on average about 10 times a day.

Problems that have occurred so far

Improvements brought by electrification

The use of ELECYLINDER has stabilized the discharge speed.
This prevents defective products from getting caught in the entrance of the discharge line.

Device description

Cost reduction effect assuming the number of workers is 1

Conditions
Labor cost
2,300 yen/hour
Number of operation days per year
230 days
Effect

By replacing it with ELECYLINDER, the number of moment-stops decreased from 10 times/day to 0 times/day.

When using the air cylinder, the equipment was stopped for a total of 30 minutes a day due to moment-stops.
By replacing it with the ELECYLIDER, moment-stops cease, and

the labor costs allocated to recover from these were reduced by 264,500 yen/year.

Breakdown

Time consumed by moment stops

Air cylinder: 3 minutes (moment-stop duration) x 10 times (moment-stop frequency) = 30 minutes/day
Electric cylinder: 0 minute

Labor costs incurred due to moment-stops

Air cylinder: 30 minutes x 2,300 yen/hour = 1,150 yen/day
1,150 yen/day x 230 days = 264,500 yen
Electric cylinder: 0 yen
