Moment-stop improvement example

Supply process of resin parts

Cost reducing effect

Achieved a reduction in labor cost of 1.88 million yen/year.

Device description

This is a process in which the set resin parts are pushed up and transported to the next process, which is adhesive application.

Device description

Problems that have occurred so far

① When pushing up using an air cylinder, the impact of pushing up would cause the parts to shift, so it was necessary to stop the work and adjust the parts each time. The moment-stop was approximately 1.5 minutes and occurred approximately 32 times a day. ② When the air cylinder rises, the air pressure fluctuates, making operation unstable. There were many problems where the position of the workpiece was misaligned due to sudden movement. ③ The workpiece would move away from its position, causing a moment-stop, and it was necessary to stop the work each time this occurred. The moment-stop was about 1.5 minutes and occurred about twice a day.

Problems that have occurred so far

Improvements brought by electrification

① By replacing it with ELECYLINDER, the acceleration (A), speed (V), and deceleration (D) of the lifting operation can be adjusted individually, allowing smooth and shock-free operation.
As a result, the moment-stops no longer occur.
② As the operation has become more stable, the workpiece no longer moves away, and the number of moment-stop has become zero.

Problems that have occurred so far

Cost reduction effect assuming 4 workers (1 person per line, 4 lines)

Conditions
Labor cost
2,300 yen/hour
Number of operation days per year
240 days
Effect

By replacing it with ELECYLINDER, the number of moment-stops decreased from 34 times/day to 0 times/day.
When using the air cylinder, the device was stopped for a total of 51 minutes a day due to moment-stops.

By replacing it with the ELECYLIDER, moment-stops cease, and

the labor costs allocated to recover from these were reduced by 1,881,600 yen/year.

Breakdown

Time consumed by moment stops

Air cylinder: 1.5 minutes (moment-stop duration) x 34 times (moment-stop frequency) = 51 minutes/day
Electric cylinder: 0 minute

Labor costs incurred due to moment-stops

Air cylinder: 51 minutes x 2,300 yen/hour = 1,960 yen/day
1,960 yen/day x 240 days x 4 people = 1,881,600 yen
Electric cylinder: 0 yen
