Moment-stop improvement example

Moment-stop improvement example

Engine parts transfer process

Cost reducing effect

Achieved a reduction in labor cost of 280,000 yen/year.

Device description

This is a device for transferring engine parts for automobiles.
This device uses a rodless air cylinder.

Device description

Problems that have occurred so far

Air cylinders cannot adjust acceleration, speed, and deceleration, and the impact when stopping at the end of the stroke could cause the workpiece to fall. The moment-stop was about 2 minutes, and it occurred about 15 times a day.

Problems that have occurred so far

Improvements brought by electrification

The electric cylinder can be started and stopped smoothly. It can move at high speed between start and stop, and there is no shock when stopping at the end of the stroke, eliminating the possibility of the workpiece falling. As a result, the number of moment-stops that used to occur an average of 15 times a day has decreased to 0.

Cost reduction effect assuming the number of workers is 1

Conditions
Labor cost
2,300 yen/hour
Number of operation days per year
240 days
Effect

By replacing it with an electric cylinder, the number of moment-stops decreased from 15 times/day to 0 times/day.

When using the air cylinder, the device was stopped for a total of 30 minutes a day due to moment-stops.
By replacing it with the electric cylinder, moment-stops cease, and

labor costs allocated to recover from these were reduced by 276,000 yen/year.

Breakdown

Time consumed by moment stops

Air cylinder: 2 minutes (moment-stop duration) x 15 times (moment-stop frequency) = 30 minutes/day
Electric cylinder: 0 minute

Labor costs incurred due to moment-stops

Air cylinder: 30 minutes x 2,300 yen/hour = 1,150 yen/day
1,150 yen/day x 240 days = 276,000 yen/year
Electric cylinder: 0 yen
