Introduces the daily maintenance of the IAI products, using each model representatives as an example. Please use these information as a reference for inspection timing, cleaning method and maintenance method.
Daily maintenance is encouraged for troubles, breakdown preventions.
To begin with
Grease is used in ball screws in actuator, the part where the steel ball is in used such as in guides and sliding parts of rod, as an essential component for a smooth operation.
Insufficient grease, and deteriorated grease with low performance may cause troubles by causing actuator motion difficulties. Please lubricate(grease up) periodically in order to prevent these troubles to occur.
Grease type・replenishing point・encouraged timings differs through products.

Inspection・Grease replenishing method differs through the product types.
The reference for inspection・replenishing timings of 「Slider type」 and 「Rod type」 are as below.

The reference on the need of grease replenishing, based on inspection on appearance, is as follows.
- Replenishing is required
- In the case where there are no grease left.
- In the case where the surface is covered by dust, leaving no surface to shine. (Cleaning is required to be done)
- No replenishing is required (In good condition)
- If there are a sufficient amount of grease.
- The surface is shining as if it is wet, even if the colour turned dark brown.
Lubricating (grease up) method of the Slider type
Coating on to guide part
Please inject through grease nipple using a grease gun. The location of the grease nipple differs through models, from slider side up to edge of the stroke end cover.
In the case where there are no grease nipple, please push the grease in between the slider and the base using a spatula, or fill them with grease gun.
Remove the extra grease after moving it on the slider to-and-fro, allowing the grease to be applied thoroughly. Please do the same on to the both right and left guides.
Coating on to ball screws
Move it on the slider to-and-fro, allowing the grease to be applied thoroughly, after cleaning and applying the grease by hand.
Remove the extra grease once applied thoroughly.
Coating the intermediate support
For the products with intermediate support specifications, lubricatings(grease up) are required on「intermediate support coupling rod」, 「support bush」 and 「upper section of slider and intermediate support」, other than the guide・ball screw.

Intermediate support coupling rod After cleaning the 2 coupling rods of the intermediate support, please apply grease on them by hand. Move them to-and-fro on the slider, applying the grease thoroughly.
Support bush After cleaning the support bushes of the both edge of the intermediate support, please apply grease around it by rotating the support bush on hand. Move them to-and-fro on the slider, applying the grease thoroughly.
Please apply grease by hand, after cleaning the upper section of the slider, upper section of the slider on the upper section of the intermediate support and both edges of the upper section of the intermediate support. This is in purpose to protect the contacting surface with of screw covers.
Lubricating (grease up) method of the Rod type
Coating the rod slider surface
Coat the grease on to the rod slider surface using fingers.
Remove the extra grease after moving the rod to-and-fro on the slider, applying the grease thoroughly.
Coating the ball screw(for the case where the body of the model has a grease replenishing port)
Please pull the rod out by above half of a stroke, and remove the screws from the grease replenishing port.
Coat through the screw holes using spray grease. (Injection time: less than 1 second)
Coat the gap between the screws and the body using silicon, after tightening the screws of the replenishing port.
